Serving Iowa's Equine Industry

In 2007, the IHC Board began to follow the new committee structure set up in 2006.  These committees were formed for the purpose of facilitating communication between the members and to have a larger group to brainstorm new innovative ideas.  The new structure puts on chair person at the head of the committee that is responsible for main communication with the board and several sub-committee chairs, each with their own area to manage.

 

Committees:

 

Administrative: Oversees the business functions of the organization and promotes membership

 

Promotion: Promotes and markets the IHC by means of industry recognition and funding as well as through exhibits, print, and electronic media.

 

Education: Develops educational programs, information resources, and networking opportunities for Iowa’s equine industry. 

 

Horse Fair: Assists with the coordination of this annual event, which provides a major educational venue for the horse industry.

 

Trails, Land Use & Zoning: Promotes trails and trail development within the State of Iowa; represents the council on land use and land planning efforts; works with the DNR and various other groups.

Publication Committee Opportunities:  Iowa Horse Council members are invited to consider serving on the Promotions Committee.  This committee has several areas which includes:

Promotional Items

w        Brainstorm items that would be good to offer to members

w        Brainstorm items that would be good to give away at IHC booths

w        Help develop promotional brochures/flyers for IHC or IHC events

w        Research and develop a list of suppliers of promotional items

  

As a member of the IHC Promotions Committee you can gain a lot of experience in writing, editing, and page design for the various IHC publications and this experience will look great on your resume.  College students in Ag Journalism, Ag Business, Animal Science, Marketing, or Communications (just to name a few) can gain invaluable experience working on this committee.  Horse owners or enthusiasts can serve the

Iowa horse community by assisting in any of the areas listed above. 

 

Whether its photography, writing, or designing t-shirts for an IHC event, there is a place for you on the IHC Promotions Committee!
