This year’s Trail Boss Challenge runs April 1, 2026 – November 30, 2026.

You may count miles from April 1, 2026 (or the date you joined the challenge - whichever is later) through November 30, 2026.

• You must be a member of the Iowa Horse Council to participate. 

• Only trail/road miles count - track actual miles on your favorite phone app. No arena miles are allowed. 

• Mileage report must be received by December 15th to be considered for prizes. 

• There are two divisions – Youth Riding, for age 18 and under as of January 1, 2026, Adult Riding, for age 19 and over as of January 1, 2026. 

• Awards and Certificates of Participation for both divisions will be given at the Iowa Horse Fair in 2027.

Awards for each division:
1st place each division - $75 gift certificate
2nd place each division - $50 gift certificate
3rd place each division - $25 gift certificate
All entrants who complete the program and submit their log sheet

will receive a certificate of participation
